Kosmos, the Natural History Museum of the University of Pavia presents the exhibition “Linea Confinaria” by Mariano Pieroni, an eclectic polymaterial artist.
Pieroni exhibits to the public the collection of “Plasticoni”, realistic animals made with waste materials, rejected as no longer usable or aesthetically unpleasant.
Beyond the charm of these objects, some of which are unrealistically out of scale, Pieroni’s art aims to be a provocation and, at the same time, a question about the contemporary world, in particular about the sustainability of production and consumption practices in which we are all, more or less consciously, involved.
“Linea Confinaria” transforms the constituent material of the landfill into emblematic objects, underlining in an original way the precariousness of the existence of some animals at risk of extinction, victims of a system in which the boundary between the natural world and the landfill no longer exists: the landfill is now everywhere, it lives among us.
The LINEA CONFINARIA exhibition will be open from 18 October 2024 to 23 May 2025 during Kosmos opening hours, from Tuesday to Sunday 10.00-18.00 (last admission 17.30). Closed on 25 December, 20 April, 1 May.
Access to the exhibition is included in the Museum entrance ticket. Exhibition only 4 euros.
